I've been busy...

Hi everyone! I'm not really sure how many of you actually read my blog, but for those of you that do I'm sure you've noticed I've been MIA for several weeks.
During the month of October and November I stay busy with proctoring for the school where I work, so no computer time there. Greg's new job has been keeping me pretty busy with the family. He is working about 2 hours away ,so I don't have time to get on the computer at home anymore.

just a quick update :
We are doing great. Chance went for his 4 month check up yesterday and he weighs 16 .5 lbs and is 25.5 inches long. He's not feeling very well today after his shots. Poor baby, but he was a Champ taking them. His doctor said he was the happiest baby he'd seen all day. Emily Grace is doing ok in school. She is having some problems recognizing a few letters , but she is 4 and this is her very first year in school. So, I'm not going to stress too much about it right now. We are working on them a lot , so hopefully she will know them soon.

I plan to post some pictures from the last month, hopefully by this weekend.

Please leave a comment if you read this blog. I would love to know who actually reads my ramblings.

Chance and Emily Grace

I was looking at my blog the other day and realized I had not posted any recent pictures of Chance. Poor Baby. He has grown so much over the past few weeks. He is cooing and laughing and getting to be such a big boy. He is almost 4 months old now and does not like to have his picture taken! I tried to take some shots of Chance and Emily Grace Sunday night. Here's what I got.

It's getting late and I've got to get up early tomorrow, so I guess I better get to bed. Good night.

PICTURES of Roast N Boast

Here are some pictures from Roast N Boast 2008.

Emily Grace and her cousin, Addy Rye playing during the awards. They don't seem too concerned as too whether any of us win or not.

Emily Grace and her cousin Michelle hanging out at the Rivertail Twister's booth.

Who needs a sandbox when we have a load of sand! My Uncle brought down a small load of sand for all the kiddos to play in. As you can see it was a huge hit with Emily Grace and Addy Rye. Thanks Uncle George!

notice all the bags of charcoal lined up, Addy Rye's team is ready to do some serious cooking.

Hawaiian POOL?? Party

Saturday night was the GTBOA Hawaiian Pool Party, but it rained so it got moved to my dad and uncle's shop. We had so much fun we never even missed the pool. The band was great. Blind Willie, I think, was the band.
This was Chance's very first social. He's was quite the ladies man! Emily Grace had a blast dancing and learning the hula.

My dad pulling pork! YUMMY!!!

UPDATE ON CHANCE

Today was shot day! POOR BABY!!!My mom had to take him since I had to work. THANKS MOM!!!

THE STATS: 11 weeks tomorrow
13lbs 5 oz
24 inches long

He is a big boy .I’m thinking … FOOTBALL… like his daddy. The doctor also gave us a nebulizer. He has to have 4 breathing treatments every day and we have to switch his formula to soy. This is all new to me. We were very blessed with Emily Grace. She was the picture of health at that age.

THE HISTORY:

Since Chance was about 3 weeks old he started sounding very raspy, wheezed a little and then a few days ago he started coughing. We took him to the doctor and were told it was normal for c-section babies to do that and it would go away around 6 weeks of age. Well, at 5 weeks he sounded worse and we called the doctor, we were told the same thing and to run a humidifier in the rooms he slept in. I really felt a little dismissed.
He is now 11 weeks and it has not gotten any better. In fact, it has gotten worse. Mom took him today to get his shots and then explained to them she knew this was not normal and something needed to be done. Thankfully mom is pretty stern and got their attention. Not to mention he had just taken a bottle so the nurses and doctor could hear what we have been hearing.
We have switched his formula to soy so hopefully this and the treatments will solve the problem. From what I have been hearing around the campus, this is a pretty normal thing?!?!!? I don’t know. I’m praying it is just allergies.

Duck, Duck, Goose... I'm it.

My friend Amanda tagged me so here are 6 unimportant things about me that make me,ME!
ENJOY!

1. I am addicted to Guiding Light. I have my DVR set to record it everyday and I get infuriated if someone deletes it BEFORE I get to watch that days episode.

2. I am about to admit something I have only admitted to my self and my husband. I do not like to be alone, especially in house by myself. There are 2 exceptions , the car and shopping I HAVE to have someone to talk too. Seems to be genetic, my dad and Chance are like this too.

3.I can go into a house, walk through it once and I will remember the furniture positions, number of closets and bathrooms ,bedrooms and where they are. I promise I can remember houses I went into when I was a child only once and I could tell you where everything was. Additional fact: I love to look at houses for sale.

4.I am totally freaking out about turning 30 in December!! MIDLIFE CRISIS HERE I COME!!!!

5. A hobby of mine is researching old towns that no longer exist or those that were a lot bigger at some point in time. I love looking at old pictures and reading or listening to stories about them. A good example would be Electric Mills outside of Scooba, MS. Did you know this town had it's own form of money and had one of the best health care and schools around?

6. I cannot IRON!! It's not that I don't try, I'm just not that good at it. I can iron easy stuff, but pleats and nice dress shirts...FORGET IT!!!My husband has to do all of our ironing or it will look really bad when I get finished with it.

Well, these are just some of the unimportant things about me. Now, I tag Jennifer Barksdale, Gita, Katrina, Pam and Tracy.

On my heart...

Do you ever feel that your life is stagnate?Kinda like murky swamp water, which never moves. Or maybe it’s just in a never ending cycle. You do the same thing day after day. Wake up at the same time, eat the same things, drink the same coffee from the same coffee cup day after day, go to the same job and do the same things there, come home, fix the same suppers, wash the same dishes, and then repeat the same nightly routine. You try and change these things and you successfully do change the little things such as those, but when you want to try and change your surroundings, your way of life; you have no luck due to circumstances or people around you. You fight to change the type of existence you have, but it seems as those same things tend to hold you back.
Do you feel like there is more that you should have accomplished and want to accomplish? There is more you want not only for yourself, but for your family, especially for your children?

What can you do with these feelings, these desires? You can’t stuff them in a box under your bed no matter how much you would like to, and the worst is when people tell you guess what, that’s just life and there’s no need to feel this way and if you do GET OVER IT!!! Guess what, though, there is an answer and the answer is GOD. No matter what burdens you, pray about it and turn it over to Him. He will take care of you. He loves us so much and doesn’t want us to hurt. He wants you to give him your burdens .Trust in Him and have Faith that he is there for you.

These words have been on my heart all morning so I decided to sit down at lunch and post them here. I don’t know whether God placed this on my heart for me or for someone else out there, but after writing this I did have a peace within myself. I hope it will do the same for you.

First Day

Today is Emily Grace's first day of preschool at First Baptist. She has been so excited and this morning she was ready to go before I was. I have to admit I was a little upset leaving her at preschool. She is such a big girl, I just can't believe how fast she has grown. When I got ready to leave she waved and told ME to have fun at work. TOO CUTE!!
I forgot to get my camera out of the car so I am going to take some pictures today after I pick her up. I know, I know, what mom FORGETS TO TAKE PICTURES THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

Daddy really DOES see everything!

I have been watching my mom do this blog thing and I thought I would give it a try. I got in trouble the other night. I was standing in the fridge checking out this pie my mom made and well it just looked sooo good! I just couldn't help myself.I was thinking it was chocolate. Daddy was standing at the sink washing his hands so I knew he wouldn't see me, so I stuck my finger it in to get at taste and I was right , it was chocolate. YUMMY!!!!! It was so good that I decided to get another bite of it and about that time Daddy turned around and saw me. He didn't really get on to me. He just told me to wait until after supper and not to ever stick my fingers in a pie again, cause other people don't want to eat after I slobber all over it. He turned back around to the sink and I made a couple of what I thought were funny faces at daddy behind his back and you know what?HE SAW ME and he did NOT think my faces were funny.
I got in lots of trouble I tried to use my puppy eyes at him but it didn't work. NO TV or pie:( for me that night. I just couldn't figure out how he saw me , but he did. I finally heard momma and daddy laughing about it(they don't know I heard them) and saying something about a mirror above the kitchen sink.

Has it been 2 months already???

OH !Where does the time go? My little man is 2 months old today and oh how he has grown so much. He is cooing, giggling and smiling. You can tickle his little chin and he grins so big!!!He has even taken his first boat ride. He is so sweet and very handsome I might add. Not that I am biased or anything!!! Now , if we could only work on that sleeping thing a little bit :)

I just can not believe the time has passed so quickly. A week from tomorrow I will go back to work. I am very blessed that my mom will be keeping him,he is going to be in great hands. Not only will he have my mom , but he will get to spend time with his paw paw and uncle. I will be waiting on the day when I go to pick him up and he is out riding with Paw paw and Jonathan and doesn't want to go home!

Emily Grace will be starting a new school this year too. She will be going to First Baptist. She will start on Tuesday. She CAN NOT wait!!! Every morning this week when she gets up she asks," momma, you going to work today? momma, I going to school today?" I will tell her how many days she has left and she replies, "awww man". I will definitely remind her of this when in a few weeks she doesn't want to get up and go.

"Compewter" picture

Emily Grace has been literally bouncing off the walls this week. Thursday after Greg got home we decided to take her to the park, hoping she would burn some energy. I was sitting on the bench and she yells to me "Momma take my picture and put on the compewter" It is sooo cute how she says computer. So, I of course did as she asked.

passed out on pawpaw

Today is the day!

Yep, it's about 3:00 am. I can not sleep.Baby(Chance or Caden we will decide on which when we see him) will be here by 9:30 as long as the doctor is on schedule so of course I'm a little anxious and Emily Grace woke up worried about mama going to the hospital to stay, don't get me wrong , she is excited about having a little brother, but she is such a little worrier. She's only 4, but has the biggest heart you can imagine. She cries when she watches the Human society commercial that Sarah McLaughlin does, so I'm sure you can only imagine what she is thinking about me and the hospital. It really broke my heart to hear her talking in her sleep about it and then when she woke up. Greg and I have really tried to explain to her everything is going to be fine, but it is still hard for her to understand. Her pawpaw and uncle Jonathan are going to keep her today and try and keep her mind off of it until it is ok to bring her to see me and the baby. I really feel for them, they have probably got a harder job than my doctor does today!
I guess I should really try and get a few more minutes of sleep.YEAH RIGHT!! I go into the hospital at 7:30 this morning and my section will be at 9:00. Please keep us in your prayers today.
OH!! Greg is going to try and post some pictures either tonight or tomorrow.

No baby as of today. We went in for the amnio yesterday morning and recieved the results around 2:00 that the baby's lungs have not yet matured. Most of the time at 37 1/2 weeks they should have already matured, but with the diabetes the baby's body produces a protein that slows maturation. My Dr went ahead and scheduled the csection for May 29 like orginally planned. Hopefully the lungs will be mature by that time. I'm not really sure what to expect.

Monday, May 12, 2008

quick update

I go back to the Dr on May 15 for another sonogram to check my fluid level again. The fluid level had dropped instead of increasing last week. Thank goodness!!! If it has stayed the same then on the 22nd he will do an amniocentisis to see if the baby's lungs have developed. If they have he will do a c-section on May 22. The baby will only be 3 weeks early instead of a month or more like we have anticipated.
Last week the baby was already at 8lbs.

Cute Pics

I just thought these were a few cute pics of Emily Grace.

Bird house

Emily Grace asked her paw paw for a birdhouse. He gave her the idea to paint it , so the next day we sat outside and she painted. After she painted the birdhouse, the next day she found the paints and while she was supposed to have been taking a nap she decided to paint her bed and walls!!! Thank goodness for soap and water and magic erasers. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of her art work. I was just a little upset, but here are a few pics with her painting the birdhouse.

If it's not one thing, it's another

After the last few weeks, we thought everything was going ok with the pregnancy. I seemed to be keeping my BP and Blood Sugar undercontrol and then there came a sonogram. I was really looking forward to seeing a picture of our precious baby boy, Chance, from what we could see, he looks like Emily Grace did when she was born. Excited time right! Well,in this sonogram the doctor could see there is too much amniotic fluid. Which can cause the baby's lungs not to develop and mature as fast as they should , so it is even more important that I carry to term.Which presents another problem, the excess fluid can cause me to go into pre term labor, in return can and will cause my placenta to rupture thus causing even more serious complications for both my baby and me. So like I said, if it's not one thing, it's another. Please keep us in your prayers.

On a happier note, with this problem I get to have a sonogram every other week and we get to see our precious baby even more before he arrives!

Another update

I went back to the doctor today and got a pretty good report. My blood pressure, not great, was good for a change was 142/80 as well as my blood sugar. I also had not gained any weight!
When my doctor tried to listen for the heart ,we all laughed. The baby had the hiccups!!! So, he is doing good.
I go back next Friday and he is going to do another sonogram and my doctor said after looking at the baby's weight and lungs he will go ahead and try to schedule a date. He is thinking between 36-38 weeks. He and I both are aiming for 38, but he will take 36.

Pregnancy Update

It is official. Dr. Whittle has put me on major slow down mode. I have had to take a very early maternity leave beginning today. My blood pressure is giving me problems and I have also been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The gestational diabetes is very easy to control, so he is concerned about the BP. It is running anywhere from 136/90-150/100. Hopefully, this will enable me to go to full term with the baby. He said if I didn't stay put now, we would be having a very early arrival.
Please keep us in your prayers.

This Mississippi Weather!?!?!

Today, we had our first snow in several years. I know at least 4 because this is the first snow Emily Grace has ever seen. She woke up bright and early at 6am to see if it snowed last night. IT HAD!!! She was so excited. I don't really think she understood that is was cold when it snowed. Greg got her bundled up and we took her outside. We made small, very small snow balls and threw at one another and Bogie.
After a few minutes of walking around , Emily Grace looked up and asked if she could go back inside because she was soooooooo cooooooooold!!!(teeth chattering) I think she may be more of a sand girl instead of a snow girl. A true southern girl!

Fortunately with Mississippi weather, she won't have to wait long at all for warm weather, probably just a day or two at the most.

At home

It's been several days since I've last blogged. I'm staying at home today, due to Greg's persistence. I suppose he is right, though. It has been a tough week and 1/2 at work. I won't elaborate.Work becomes my life and I let it totally consume me. This can be a very bad thing though. I've got to learn that my job is "just a job".I worry too much what others will think of me. I don't want to let anyone down, but at the same time I DO NOT want to be run over.Greg thinks I need a break , my BP has been up more this week, it's even been up in the mornings. The bottom number was 97 this morning. My Doctor doesn't want that number to be over 85. SO I HAVE TO TAKE IT EASY. Greg over ruled me this morning.

I figure since most of my day I will have to spend in my bed I can BABY SHOP!!!! I just LOVE the Internet!!!! You don't have to go anywhere and you can buy ANYTHING YOUR HEART DESIRES.

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!!!

The Weekend

Friday began as a normal day. I got up and got ready for work. Went to work and then I had a doctor's appointment. I felt great!! No headaches, in a great mood couldn't have asked for any better or so I thought. When I got into the Dr office the nurse checked my blood pressure as usual and then asked me if I was feeling ok. I of course said yea I feel great why? Lawanda(the nurse) looked at me with those eyes ( we all know that look) and said well your BP is 162/105. So, she had me lay on my left side, so after a few seconds of manuevering my pregnant self over I finally get to my left side and she leaves. A few minutes later she and my doctor come in and with the same look the nurse gave me and ask,"how are you feeling?" I am great! Well, at least I thought I was. He then takes my BP and then sends me to the hospital!! The good news is my bp had come down to 155/100, but that's not quite low enough to stay out of the hospital.
So , I call Greg and we go to NMMC in West Point and have a very expensive weekend in a hospital room. The good way to look at it is , meals in bed and no house work!!!!! WHOHOO!!!
I was released Saturday night around 6:30 and I got to come back to work today upon the promise I would do nothing more that sit at my desk and check emails. Seeing that's the main part of my job , I had no problem with this.
My diagnose is : I am predispositioned for chronic hypertension . so, in other words it is not Preeclamsia, but it is almost a given that I will have high Blood pressure at some point in my life. It's genetic, but with me being only 24 weeks pregnant I have to be VERY careful. I'm on BP medicine and I have to go back to my dr on Wednesday. So , please if anyone happens to read this please keep me and my baby boy in your prayers. We need them, please don't forget Greg and Emily Grace either. With this pretty much all of our household chores have been thrown onto Greg.

Aren't We Cute!

Every year our boat club has a halloween party and we all dress up. You should see some of the costumes! They are unbelievable!! Emily Grace and I decided to be something cute and simple this year. She wanted to be a MSU cheerleader. I let her decide what my costume was going to be, she decided on a cat, so being the good sport I am I dressed up as a cat. Greg thought his girls looked cute.

Emily Grace loves flowers , especially purple flowers. As soon as she saw these she just had to have her picture taken with them. I guess we could have skipped seeing the monkeys and went straight to the flowers!!

She took the closeup by herself!

Greg and I took Emily Grace to the Memphis Zoo in April.

This is one of my favorites of her and her daddy.
She is a total daddy's girl.

It's About Time

After several weeks of blog surfing I have finally decided it was about time to start a blog of my own for my family. I'm afraid I won't have a lot to tell as we pretty much just work and hang out. Yep, sounds boring doesn't it, but maybe this will inspire me to do more or get Greg to do more, besides work.

I plan to post some pics soon. I have to admit I am not the best mom when it comes to pictures. I should be ashamed of this , but I always forget my camera, then when I do take pics I forget to do anything with them. I will say this though, it must be genetic, because my mom to this day still finds rolls of film she has had since I was little. I promise she has rolls that are 20 years old!

At this moment in our lives we are remodeling our house. New floors , hopefully cabinets soon ( keeping my fingers crossed), paint and whatever else I can convince my sweet husband to do. He's really a great sport about it! Bless him. I am a very difficult person to please when it comes to my house and I LOVE , I can not emphasize this enough, LOVE change!!!!

I will try and post some pictures of before and after as we live and work through this process.

Well, that's enough for today. I'll get to work looking for pictures so everyone can see my family. Gita, sorry, but I still won't post any pregnant pictures of myself!!
